I prepped my hair the night before my flight. I cowshed and two strand twisted my hair with a moisturizing deep conditioner. I used a deep conditioner because it is heavier than a regular rinse out conditioner and I knew that I would not be restyling hair entirely for four days. I allowed it to air-dry overnight and traveled with my hair twisted to preserve the style. I removed my twists the next day and I had a beautiful twistout.
Bring a satin pillowcase. I always bring my satin pillowcase with me whenever I travel. As you know, the satin pillowcase will allow you to protect your hair while you are staying at the hotel. Cotton pillows can be drying to our hair. Dong this will also preserve your curls longer.
I purchased a small travel container and poured my conditioner in it, just in case I needed to touch up a few strands that may get frizzy. The container was 2 oz. and it is perfect for traveling. I kept it in my purse for quick touch ups. It is great to have a small amount of hair product with you. You never know when you may need it.
Ensure that you have enough time to style your hair in the morning. I was on the go a lot during the ESSENCE festival and I knew that I had to be in certain places at a certain time. I woke up earlier to style my hair so that it was not rushed. Rushing when styling your can sometimes lead to a unsuccessful style. If you give yourself enough time to style your hair, you can take your time and enjoy your hairstyle later. I have learned this from past experiences and it has been a really nice experience moving forward.
