Congrats are in order for Angelica and Jason Sweeting, the latest Shark Tank success story. The pair responsible for Naturally Perfect Dolls appeared in a recent episode of the entrepeneur-themed show, hoping to secure a $200,000 investment for their natural haired doll line that caters to young Black girls.
The collection was created to help redefine societal standards of beauty, and offer girls with kinky/curly hair, wider noses and fuller lips a doll that reflects their unique beauty.

“We are creating Naturally Perfect Dolls to let girls know that they are beautiful. Our girls need to see a reflection of their own unique beauty. It’s time for our young girls to have a new standard,” the company states on its website.
And while the mission of Naturally Perfect Dolls is a compelling one, sharks were reluctant to take the bait. Despite liking the doll, the panel noted concerns with the doll’s $84.99 price point, and failed attempts from larger companies who have tried to take the multicultural approach with their own dolls.
However, their mission resonated with fashion branding expert and creator of FUBU (For Us By Us) Daymond John, who proposed $200,000 at 30% ownership, 60% for the founders, and 10% committed to charity.
The Sweetings officially accepted his offer, which means they’ll be able to mass produce these dolls, ensuring that your daughter, sister, niece and young girls won’t have to resort to dolls with straight hair.
This is certainly a major beauty boss moment.
