Actress and comedian Regina Hall has a new project lined up with Amazon Studios.
The former ESSENCE cover star will executive produce and star in supernatural drama, Master. Written and directed by Mariama Diallo, Master follows two Black women at a predominantly white college in Massachusetts, who begin to experience haunting activity.
Deadline reports that Hall will play Gail Bishop, a “queer, Black master of the Belleville house at Ancaster, a liberal arts college outside Boston.” Bishop must figure out how to manage racial tensions on campus as students and faculty face paranormal activity.
Diallo is a rising star to watch. Last year, the director took home the Sundance Jury Award in the U.S. short film competition at the Sundance Film Festival for her stellar short Hair Wolf, a haunting short that fused gentrification with horror, as Black women at a hair salon struggled to fend off White women’s intent on stealing from Black culture.
Hall is also busy filming season two of hit Showtime series Black Monday as well as gearing up for two new projects, comedy Prison Logic and crime drama Breaking News In Yuba County.
