Move aside, Brawny Man! There’s a strong woman to take your place.
Brawny Paper Towels announced this week that in honor of Women’s History Month they’re replacing their staple brand character for three women, with one being America’s first African-American combat pilot, Vernice ‘FlyGirl’ Armour.
“It’s truly an honor to be part of this great initiative that recognizes that there are women and girls everywhere, from different walks of society, in different professions, who are accomplishing amazing things and forging paths for future generations,” Armour said in a statement.
“We’ve come a long way but we still have a lot of work left to do.”
Women’s History Month was created in 1987 to highlights the contributions of women to events in history, the arts and contemporary society. In addition to changing out the faces on the wrapping for the rolls, Brawny has a educational #StrengthHasNoGender YouTube series, giving voice to amazing women in different fields.

In addition to serving our country as a pilot, Armour was also a police officer and professional football player.
“Success is not a final destination,” Armour says. “After you accomplish a mission, keep the momentum going. Honor the past and see into the future without dwelling on either one.”
Brawny Paper Towels’ Women History rolls can be found in all major retail stores.
