I’m a snooze alarm girl. No matter how many hours of sleep I’ve managed to get in, each morning I still press that snooze button one too many times and wind up rushing my morning routine. I catch a commuter train to work that will leave me whether I make it to the platform or not, and most days, the only reason I catch my ride is because I’ve chosen a five-minute hairstyle.
Because I’ve never been hair-savvy and I’m always crunched for time, wearing a wig or weave is the only way I can assure that I look my best and make it to work in time for my early morning meetings. Now, I’m not saying that going natural or having a relaxer is too hard or requires too much energy, but styling coils and curls to perfection or unwrapping and styling a doobie definitely takes longer than it does to brush a wig and go. And, for that I’m thankful. Truly believe that the secret to successful work-ready hair is finding a look that works best for you in the mornings. For my busy lifestyle, the throw-on-a-wig and go approach is really the only way I can make it work. (Especially the synthetic ones that are permanently styled.) I’m thankful for the extra 30 minutes or so it saves me each morning and relieved that I’m still choosing a protective style for my natural locks beneath. It’s a win-win kind of situation.
