The New Stereotype, a modern cultural movement that is picking up some major steam, is a pun within itself. “We aren’t introducing new stereotypes but rather shedding light on the many diverse attributes of black men and women in this country that don’t always have the platform they deserve,” says creator Marquelle Turner-Gilchrist. Their fifth installment, “The Bedazzled Crown,” features 7 black women who collectively champion sisterhood, entrepreneurship, body diversity, and beauty. These lovely ladies gathered to film a video and a vibrant photo shoot at the National Mall in Washington, DC, creating a powerful backdrop to showcase the variety of passions and occupations of the modern black woman.
