Coco Gauff winning the U.S. Open in the women’s final is a moment in Black history — and Black girl magic — that we will never forget. By defeating Aryna Sabalenka, Gauff has gone on to become the latest Black woman to leave a history-making mark on the most sacred grounds of U.S. tennis.
And an iconic moment, calls for an iconic partnership — and the US Open and Aperol did just that. The Italian aperitivo brought a slice of Italy’s culture and cuisine to the tournament this year, which ultimately called for many reasons to cheer.
The first in what hopes to be many years of partnership, the 2023 tournament season ended on a high note for all. “We are delighted to welcome Aperol to the US Open,” said Deanne Pownall, USTA Managing Director of Corporate Partnerships. “The US Open is one of the largest annually attended sporting events in the world and is a spectacular experience for fans to enjoy world class tennis along with amazing culinary offerings.”
Based on Aperol’s founding principle of togetherness, two destinations were created for visitors to enjoy the signature energy of the US Open while connecting with friends and family. Just east of the main entrance to Arthur Ashe Stadium, a branded, indoor-outdoor patio bar offered an Aperol experience and light bites, and then the grounds near Court 5, Aperol had an authentic Italian Apé Truck and a place to connect with friends in between matches.
Aperol’s history is rooted in the practice of coming together, according to Andrea Sengara, head of marketing for Campari America. And the new collaboration with the U.S. Open fell in line with that important tradition.
The US Open ended on September 10, you can still join in the fun by ordering the Perfect Serve Kit from Cocktail Courier, which contains everything you need to mix up an Aperol Spritz at home.
