You’ve seen the images of Rihanna’s trips to Barbados but the essence of Crop Over is more than just sexy photos. Originally as a way that slaves celebrated the end of sugar cane harvest season, Crop Over was about survival through Afro-Caribbeans traditions. In addition to Calypso, dancing, food and singing, the festivities culminate with The Grand Kadooment parade on the first Monday of August.
