A body found in Lake Charles, Indiana has been confirmed to be that of Teleka Patrick, a 30-year-old Michigan-based doctor who went missing in December.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said that autopsy results confirm that the body found by a fisherman over the weekend was Patrick’s. There was no foul play found on her body and her death could have been caused by drowning, he added. Her body was found about 15 miles east of Gary, Indiana, near where her gold Lexus had been abandoned.
The New York native had recently started her medical residency at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Colleagues reported seeing her acting “erratic” hours before her disappearance.
“Teleka’s death is not the ending we had hoped for, however, the journey does not end here,” wrote Patrick’s family on a Facebook page dedicated to finding her. “As we mourn Teleka, we must also honor her; honor the life she led, honor her kind spirit and honor her devotion to God and others.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Patrick family.
