Traveling abroad is cool and all, but if you really want to get into the vibe and culture of a destination, eat like the locals do. There’s honestly no better way to experience the culinary tastes of a country than through the local chefs that shape its cuisine.
Over on the continent, chef Zoey Umeokeke is introducing the world to the flavors of her native Nigeria by whipping up traditional and fusion dishes that look as good as they taste. A graduate of Reddish Chronicles Culinary School, Umeokeke is now a private chef and owner of Zabambam Kitchen, a catering service based in Lagos. She also is the face of competitions and campaigns for brands like Maggi Nigeria and Eat.Drink.Lagos.
The 33-year-old foodie is such a rockstar in the kitchen that she was recently signed to the Chef Stone Culinary Talent Agency, which represents some of the best and rising chefs in Nigeria.
We’re totally obsessed with Chef Zoey’s Nigerian dishes, so we’re sharing the love and giving you one of her yummy recipes to try out this weekend. But be warned, this quick and flavorful meal will have you ready to book a flight to Lagos tonight. Thank us later!
