Although Lil Nas X’s record-breaking hit “Old Town Road” has now moved past its peak, a new soulful version of the summer hit by Anderson .Paak shows that it’s a song that keeps on giving.
The multi-talented artist recently appeared on BBC Radio 1′s live lounge, where he performed a version of the hit with a live band to rave reviews. The likes of Ava Duvernay are already showing him love.
In July, “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, broke the record for having the longest-running streak at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Atlanta native’s song surpassed 1995 hit “One Sweet Day” and 2017’s “Despacito” by spending 17 weeks at the top Billboard Hot 100 spot.
According to BBC Radio, Anderson .Paak’s cover also incorporates instrumentals from Erykah Badu’s “Window Seat.”
