Sometimes, there are so many barriers that prevent us from hitting the gym: busy schedules, soreness from the previous gym session or just general lack of motivation to name a few. If it’s been a while since you’ve really broken a sweat and got those endorphins running with a workout session, allow Michelle Obama to put things in perspective for you.
The former FLOTUS shared a photo showing off her recent workout session. The “self-care Sunday” post was the ultimate motivation, as Mrs. Obama is seen performing a lunge while lifting a medicine ball above her head.
“It doesn’t always feel good in the moment. But after the fact, I’m always glad I hit the gym,” she captioned the pic. “How did you all take care of yourself on this #SelfCareSunday?”
During former President Barack Obama’s two terms in office, Mrs. Obama made it her mission to preach the importance of health and fitness far and wide. Her Let’s Move initiative was launched to combat childhood obesity by “putting children on the path to a healthy future during their earliest months and years; giving parents helpful information and fostering environments that support healthy choices,” according to the program’s website.
During her headline appearance at the Essence Festival 2019, our forever First Lady explained why wellness became one of her most important missions. “One of the reasons I took on the issue of wellness is because we’re dealing with an obesity epidemic that is shortening kids’ lives. I started with kids because my hope was that we can do for our kids when we can’t find the time to do for ourselves,” Obama said. “Starting with young people was a way to ease into the conversation.”
I don’t know about you, but this is definitely the inspiration I needed get moving!
