In this “kinda awkward” — but completely necessary — note to White America, six Black kids from Ferguson explain why racism isn’t over, even though they are way over it.
In the video the kids tackle post-racial society arguments using statistics from stop-and-frisk, discriminatory hiring practices, and tons of sarcasm to show how racism is far from over.
To put it plainly, “Just because Beyoncé is on your playlist and you voted for Obama doesn’t mean that our generation has seen the end of racist drama,” the kids all say.
All of the kids, who range from 6 to 13, were brought together by social justice-oriented T-shirt company FCKH8. They each live on the same Ferguson street where police officer Darren Wilson fatally shot unarmed teen Michael Brown last month, whom the video is dedicated to.
