When it comes to traveling, the worst part for me is packing. It isn’t the act of packing that I hate, it’s trying to decipher what’s important to bring; I’m an over packer, especially when it comes to beauty products.
Keeping up appearances are important to me so I tend to pack things that prepare me for those ‘just in case’ moments. And when you add an additional person to the mix, say for instance, a toddler, things can get a little crazy – and heavy. Over time, I’ve learned the trick is to pack multi-tasking items that both you and your child can use while away.
Aside from mascara, tinted moisturizer and blush or bronzer, here is a list of beauty essentials to pack when traveling with your little one(s).
Coconut Oil
I use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for everything! Coconut oil is a great moisturizer for your hair, scalp and skin. I also use it to remove makeup, and as a lip balm. Since it’s natural, I have no problems using it on my daughter.
Sunscreen
Vacationing means a lot of time outside being exposed to UV Rays. Even on slightly cloudy or cool days, it’s important to protect your skin using sunscreen. When we travel, I opt for a sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays, has an SPF of 30 and above, are lightweight, and contains zinc or titanium dioxide since those two ingredients last the longest.
Q-Tips
Q-tips are a great multi-tasking beauty item to travel with, especially when you’re traveling with children. For one, they come in different sizes and shapes, and they can be used to apply or remove makeup, especially around the eyes. Q-tips are great to have on hand to clean small cuts, and of course, your ears or any other small area that needs close attention.
Mini Nail Clipper
A mini nail clipper is essential when I’m traveling alone or with my toddler. Broken nails happen, and so do loose threads on clothing. Mini nail clippers can also step in as a scissor when you’re dealing with stubborn tags that have to be removed.
Hair accessories (Bobby pins, and hair ties)
Throwing your hair in a cute ponytail is quick and easy, and if you have a daughter, having hair accessories on-hand is essential. Bobby pins allow you to glam up an outfit with an elegant up do; pinning hair up into a chic bun, chignon, or French roll takes just a few minutes, but you still look put together. Hair ties and bobby pins also help keep your hair off of your face and neck when the weather is too hot.
Tweezers
When I pack, I never forget my tweezers. Tweezers are great for not only for brow grooming, but you just never know when a splinter will happen, and tweezers are perfect for removing them.
