In a recent interview with hosts of New York radio show, The Breakfast Club, Toni Braxton sat down alongside Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds and talked about everything from the reality of finances in the music industry to her own bankruptcy issues and the possibility of an album with her sisters.
When asked about record label financial scandals like the one depicted on VH1’s TLC biopic CrazySexyCool, Braxton shed some light on what it’s really like to be a new artist in the business.
“When you first sign a deal it’s never going to be any money because you haven’t sold any records…you have to prove yourself,” Braxton explained.
Braxton has received criticism for purchasing a $3 million dollar home after filing for bankruptcy just a few years ago. She explained that her most recent filing was more of a health issue than a financial mishap. “I have Lupus, my show in Vegas got cancelled and insurance wouldn’t cover it, so I had to pay myself.”
Toni didn’t leave without addressing a much-anticipated collaboration with her sisters who star with her on WE TV’s reality show, Braxton Family Values.
She said that her sisters are finally gearing up to do a “BFV” album. “We are talking about that right now,” she shared.
Braxton Family Values airs on Thursdays at 9 P.M. on WE TV.
