Living Single fans rejoice! One of our favorite actors is heading back to network TV this fall. Erika Alexander, who played the hard-charging lawyer Maxine Shaw on the hit ’90s TV show, will join the cast of Black Lightning during its sophomore season.
According to Deadline, Alexander will appear on The CW series for three episodes as Perenna, “a therapist with telepathic abilities that works with Jennifer (China Anne McClain)” as she comes to the realization that she has superhuman powers.
Alexander, who co-wrote a comic book series of her own, shared her excitement about her new role on Twitter.
“Hey @blacklightning family guess who’s coming to dinner? I’m joining the coolest super hero show w/the serious permi-tan posse,” she wrote.

Alexander’s addition to the Black Lightning cast is yet another juicy role for the veteran actor. In the past few years, she’s appeared in OWN’s hit drama Queen Sugar, Amazon’s cop series Bosch, HBO’s Insecure, and Jordan Peele’s Academy Award-winning film, Get Out.
Based on the DC Comics superhero, Black Lightning stars Cress Williams, Christine Adams, Nafessa Williams, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III, Damon Gupton, and James Remar. It was adapted for TV by married creative duo Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil.
Season two of Black Lightning returns to The CW on October 9.
