The continent of Africa is home to some of the world’s most treasured wonders. From the endless deserts of the Sahara in Morocco to friendly penguins in South Africa, very few places hold the wealth of diverse landscapes, culture history, and adventure that Mama Africa does.
It feels like every day a new country on the continent peaks our interests with its stunning beauty and vibes. The West African nation of Côte d’Ivoire is fast becoming Africa’s newest hotspot for its vibrant urban center, Abidjan, sandy beaches and unique cultural heritage. Travelista Milca (@les_curls) loves exploring the gems that lie within Côte d’Ivoire’s borders and recently participated in a cultural white-clay ritual that symbolized the joy of the present, inner peace and the mourning of past. It was a moment that changed her views on life and something we’re interested in learning more about.
That’s what visiting the continent does, it changes you for the better. If you’re looking for a life-changing experience to Africa, Côte d’Ivoire might be exactly what you need. Follow along with Milca’s escape and take notes from our guide to curate your own journey to peace.

Welcome to Côte d’Ivoire
The West African nation of Côte d’Ivoire is a country on the rise. The stunning paradise is filled with beach resorts, palm-tree forests, rainforest preserves, and a bustling urban hub in Abidjan, nestled on the Atlantic coast. Côte d’Ivoire is catching up to modern lifestyle and culture, but without losing its identity in the process. November through March is the best time to visit when temperatures are bearable and there is little to no rainfall. 1 West African Franc (XOF) = 0.00169175 USD, which means you can be a budget baller when you visit.

Urban Oasis
Thankfully, Côte d’Ivoire has not been overrun by tons of fancy resorts and tourist traps, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find incredible places to stay. The Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire is an affordable option that provides a quiet oasis in the middle of a bustling city. With all the perks and amenities available, like a lovely outdoor pool, you’ll be able to relax like an African queen.

Coastal Delights
Ivorian cuisine is similar to many of its West African neighbors in that dishes are made up mostly of corn, rice, millet, and yams, in addition to fresh fruits, vegetables, and spices. Be sure to try the yummy finger foods like Attiéké (a dish made from cassava), Alloco (fried plantain served with chili pepper and onions) and Poisson Braisé.

Beach Babe
If you didn’t already know, some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are in Africa, FYI. When in Côte d’Ivoire take a trip to coastal beauties like Grand-Bassam, Assinie-Mafia, and San Pedro and get your beach babe on in the waves.
