Happy Pride! At ESSENCE, we are committed to being inclusive and connecting with beautiful brown men and women from across the African diaspora—the queer community included.
It’s June and if you didn’t know, the month of June was designated as LGBTQ Pride Month to pay homage to the Stonewall riots, a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBTQ community in response to a police raid at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village on June 28, 1969.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and there are tons of events taking place globally to celebrate throughout the entire month of June. From parades and parties to rallies and wellness activities, options are literally endless.
However, if you’re interested in taking your Pride party on the road with a quick trip OT, we hand-picked fifteen destinations across the globe where it’s perfectly safe to be gay, Black and proud.
