Lengthy vacays to distant destinations across the pond and beyond tend to get tons of shine, but constantly looking to the other side of the world for your next great adventure can cause you to miss what’s in your own backyard.
The Big Apple might not be the luxurious beachside getaway of your dreams, but when it comes to summer in New York City, there’s nothing quite like it. Rooftop views and cocktails on the High Line, free movies in the park, street festivals and more, make NYC the perfect domestic escape.

Big City Living
Naturally, in a big city you’ll find tons of accommodations from home rentals to hotels, and while staying in New York City won’t exactly be cheap, there is definitely something for nearly every price point. One favorite among travelers is the 1 Hotel in the heart of the city’s hippest borough – Brooklyn. Be sure to head back just before sunset to grab a cocktail on the rooftop and take in breathtaking views of Manhattan.

Street Eats
New York is a melting pot of cultures which means the culinary scene can’t be beaten. Every flavor from every corner of the world exists here, but if you want to truly get to the heart of the city, you have to start with its world-famous street eats. One place to sample as many yummy bites as possible, in one place, is at the weekly Smorgasburg food market in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.
