Just five months after their star-studded wedding captivated the world, Meghan Markle and husband Prince Harry have announced they are expecting their first child.
After weeks of speculation, Kensington Palace confirmed the news on Monday.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” a statement read.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” the statement concluded.
The newest royal, who joins Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — will be seventh in line for the throne.
And the new bundle is already the apple of grandma Doria Ragland’s eye, according to Kensington Palace.
“Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild,” a statement read.
The newlyweds began dating in July 2016 after meeting on a blind date and were first revealed as a couple in October 2016. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wed on May 19 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Congrats to the couple!
