In case you missed it, an elderly couple’s celebratory engagement photo went viral last week, and made the Internet collectively swoon. As if their photos weren’t sweet enough, now that we know their love story too, get ready to fall in love with their love.
Cleveland “Murphy” Wilson and Lucinda Myers met in church and fell in love shortly after they began dating in April.
“She swept me off my feet,” the 70-year-old told ABC News of his 67-year-old bride-to-be. “I just fell in love with this gorgeous woman. And of course she fell in love with me because of my charm and suave.”
Murphy knew Lucinda was the one and popped the question in May.
At the urging of Wilson’s daughters, the couple took engagement photos, which captured the hearts of many online, including Claws star Niecy Nash who reposted their photo to her own Instagram when the image initially went viral.
“He has a beautiful smile. I love him so much,” Myers said of Wilson. “He has such a calm demeanor about him. The Lord just put us together for a reason. We’re just so happy. I couldn’t have asked for a better mate.”
Myers can’t wait for their big day, which is set to take place on July 29th at the same church where they first caught each other’s eye, because she “never had a real wedding before.”
“I’ve been telling everybody that I have been blessed again,” shared Wilson. “I never thought God would give me another fantastic mate and he has. I just didn’t think it would happen again.”
Wilson lost his wife of 41 years in 2013. He “prayed and prayed” for the Lord to bring him someone special and he says now all of his prayers have been answered.
Congratulations to the happy couple who are proof that there’s no such thing as it being too late to find love.
