Bridal Bliss: Eric And Janell's Philly Wedding Style Deserves Applause

“My dress was designed by Zuhair Murad and purchased at Glamour Closet in NYC,” revealed the bride. “It was not difficult searching for or selecting it. I made appointments at five different bridal shops in NYC, and I found my dress at a casual stroll through Glamour Closet after attending my third bridal appointment. I knew it as the one when I put it on.”

“Eric is passionate, caring, creative, and strong,” said Janell to describe her groom.

“I doubt she’d remember this ever happening, but we were watching the movie “Lucy” in her apartment in Harlem, NY,” said Eric of Janell. “We had stopped the movie at some point to talk about what was happening in it which led into this whole existential conversation about knowledge, faith and God – I was sold after that.”

“I definitely thought I’d find true love, I didn’t expect it to happen the way it did,” admitted Eric. 

Janell didn’t to the traditional “Soemthing Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue” but her accessories were nonetheless beautiful!

“She’s everything I’m not, that’s what I love most about her,” said the groom of his bride. 

“I said yes because he was and is exactly what I prayed for,” said Janell of Eric. “I love his heart so much.”

“Being a bride was fun!,” Janell said. “I thoroughly enjoyed the wedding planning process. It was not as stressful as I expected it to be, but that could be because I enjoy event planning.”

Eric and Janell had the most adorable flower girl and ring bearer at their nuptials!

“My mom and my dad because both play a significant role in my life,” said the bride. 

“I had a few jitters waiting for her to come down the aisle but when she stood in front of me, I felt perfect mix of joy and vulnerability,” said the groom of greeting his bride at the altar.

“Neither of us cried, but I almost did,” the bride shared. “It was so amazing to be with him at the altar and look in his eyes. I was so antsy but happy!”

Janell’s bridesmaids were simply gorgeous on her big day. The bride opted for a variety of dress styles for them and chose a gorgeous color that complimented their skin tones perfectly!

“I knew he was the one the day we decided to be together “officially” – right after it was decided, he asked if he could pray,” the bride recalled. “So he grabbed my hands, bowed his head, and prayed to God to bless our relationship and for us to be the best we can be to each other. It was so genuine. I almost lost it. That was the day I knew.”

Eric and Janell’s 135 guests were invited to a wedding and a reception to remember. “Our reception had two long estate tables, and round tables. Each table had silver elevated floral stands for each of the tables, with low wide centerpieces on the bottom of each stand. Solstice votive candles for each table. High and low centerpieces mixed through out each table in the room. Centerpieces were a combination of lush greenery, including locally foraged seasonal greens, Italian ruscus, Nagi, Willow Eucalyptus, and Parfolia. Greenery complimented by elegant white snap dragons, white astilbe, and white larkspur. Lower arrangements were white garden roses and white ranunculus, complimented by modern solstice votives with white candles.”

For their first dance as bride and groom, Janell and Eric shared a moment to “Ah Yeah” by the Robert Glasper Experiment feat. Musiq Soulchild and Chrisette Michele.

“Together, Eric and I have a business called Pinch & Plate where we provide a pop-up dinner party service and current intimate events for our clients. We love what we do. So we set out to have a wedding that was classic and timeless, and was essentially a super sized Pinch & Plate dinner party. We went for a wedding style that was the best representation of us as a couple and our individual styles. And we did stick to that plan. Good food, good vibes, the right playlist and attention to detail is what we’re all about and it played out perfectly at our wedding.”

“Our cake was a very geometric design, with navy blue, cream and gold accents,” revealed the bride.
