The royals may have a lot of their own wedding traditions, but sometimes the brides like to keep to honor more classic wedding traditions too. Meghan Markle made sure to wear her something old, something new, something borrowed and her something blue when she married Prince Harry before the world in the spring.
Although millions of viewers watched the Markle marry her prince and become the Duchess of Sussex, there are still hidden details from their dream wedding day that continue to surface nearly six months after the big day.
As part of an upcoming HBO documentary titled, Queen of the World, Markle revealed the sweet meaning behind her “something blue”. In the documentary, she shared that her something blue was a special nod to her first date with her Prince Harry. The piece of fabric hidden in her wedding veil was a piece of the blue dress that she wore on their first date. (According to reports, Harry and Meghan’s first date was a blind date held at the Soho House in London.) Her something blue was tucked inside her wedding veil, which featured the flowers of the 53 countries that make up the Commonwealth of the United Kingdom.
The fact that her first date dress would come in handy months later, makes that special touch to her wedding day even sweeter, and we love the idea of secretly tucking away a special item from the moment it all begin, as a couple makes it official. Brides, are you taking notes?
