Former Wall Street banker Al Reynolds is enjoying his bachelor’s life after his highly publicized divorce from Star Jones.
“I encourage [everyone] to get to know the real Al Reynolds and not this media caricature that has been created through rumors and blogs,” says Reynolds.
Reynolds has endured a lot of rumors and speculation about his sexuality before his marriage, during and even still today.
“When it comes to people discussing my sexuality I’ve always taken the higher road,” says Reynolds. “I get very emotional about it sometimes because I’m tired of the disrespect. It has affected my professional career and personal life.”
Reynolds, a professor at Florida Memorial University, admits that not everyone was supportive of his professorship.
“I would be lying if I said there weren’t members of the faculty that weren’t looking at me out the corner of their eyes, but when I used to go to work on Wall Street I had colleagues do the same thing, so that’s life.”
“It was important that I give back to the community by teaching at a Black college especially considering the staggering statistics of how many Black men don’t make it to college but end up in the penal system,” says Reynolds.
Despite rumors that he was engaged to Nicole Hutchinson, Reynolds says he’s single, “dating and happy.”
Reynolds says after all he’s been through he’s enjoying life one day at a time.
“I try to teach my students personal finance and leadership so that they can channel their entrepreneurial spirit,” says Reynolds.
After having his business on front street during his marriage, Reynolds values his privacy.
“I learned from my last relationship never to invite folks into your personal life,” says Reynolds.
Reynolds keeps his mind, body and spirit in tact.

“The most challenging for me is that when you’re in the public eye people use your breakup or divorce as entertainment,” says Reynolds. “I don’t believe anyone gets married with the intention of divorce. It’s the most difficult thing when people treat your real life so trivial and reduce that level of vulnerability you’re experiencing to a joke.”
