Kirk Franklin’s new album LONG LIVE LOVE is here! Despite whatever new album jitters he may have (this is his latest project since 2015’s Losing My Religion), his wife Tammy Franklin is here to make it known that she is his biggest fan.
The singer posted a congratulatory message from his wife, which she decided was far too heartfelt for a text message.
“I’ve been listening to this project from beginning to end, and I’m just so proud of you. It’s beautiful,” Tammy says overcome with emotion. “It is touching my soul. I know you’re nervous, but babe, God is so pleased. It is going to bless and heal so many people.”
Mrs. Franklin concludes by encouraging her husband to bask in the joy of doing God’s work and not the sales. “Don’t worry about the numbers. Don’t worry about it. God’s in control. And your wife is so proud of you.”
During the promo run for his new album, Franklin stopped by The Breakfast Club and explained how today’s cultural and political climate influenced the album’s title. “[What led to the title] is the climate of culture, the polarization. Even my Christian brothers across the aisle and their lack of empathy for Black and Brown people. The creator of love is challenging us to be able to learn how to love people that are not always the most loveable. Because we’re at times not always not the most loveable. But still, God is madly in love with us. If that’s the case, we have to get rid of this lack of empathy that’s so prominent in culture.”
He goes on to say that finding empathy has also been key in keeping his marriage together. “Me and wife, who’s the illest, we’ve been married 23 years. We don’t always agree. But my love and respect for her cause me to at least want to consider her views, thoughts and ideas.”
LONG LIVE LOVE is available on Apple Music and streaming services now.
