Anthony Criss, better known as Treach from the popular rap group Naughty By Nature, and his wife had been riding together and expanded their family for fourteen years before getting hitched. When they did, it was a celebration that made all of Jersey proud.
Cicely admits that she didn’t see a proposal coming at the time. Treach popped the question while on the road with New Kids On The Block. During a meet and greet, the group was giving out memorabilia. Cicely was backstage thinking the moment was all about the fans. Little did she know, her gift was in tow. “He pulled out this box and got down on one knee. He had NEXT there singing. I was blown away.”
The moment was so sweet and surprising, Cicely was stunned for days. “People asked me, ‘why didn’t you cry?’ I was in shock, even after we flew back home.” She was even more stunned when Treach said he wanted their wedding that same year. “We were already together for 14 years,” Treach said. “I didn’t want to wait anymore!”
As the saying goes, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Cicely delivered and planned the couple’s dream wedding in just four months, securing custom suits for the groom and their son, getting her wedding dress flown in from Italy days before the wedding, and never breaking a sweat about it. It was a whole vibe, and a wedding their guests couldn’t stop talking about. “We had Biz Markie and DJ Cool V on the sound,” says Treach. “It was like a hip hop Mardi Gras. Everyone said they haven’t seen anything like it.”
