Chance The Rapper has had quite a transformational year. The rapper recently got married to his longtime girlfriend Kirsten, welcomed his second daughter, Marli, and released his album “The Big Day.” In light of these beautiful life changes and his growing family, the Chicago-born artist is taking some much-needed off to soak it all in.
Chance the Rapper shared a beautiful photo holding his newborn baby girl and his firstborn daughter Kensli on Instagram today. In the caption he shares that he’s postponing most of the dates on his upcoming tour to be a more devoted father and husband, writing: “I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour. This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc. But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work.”
He goes on to say that when his first daughter Kensli was born, he went on tour two weeks later and missed out on precious moments. “At this point as a husband and father of two, I realize that I can’t make that mistake again,” Chance says. “I need to be as helpful and available as possible to my wife in these early months of raising Kensli and Marli.”
In addressing his fans who were planning to attend his shows, Chance asks for patience and understanding. “I apologize because I know how many people were counting on seeing me soon, but I hope you’ll understand and forgive me in time.”
Chance’s “The Big Day” tour was supposed to kick off on September 14 in San Francisco and make stops in 34 cities. Now, the tour will begin on January 15. However, the Chicago show at United Center on September 28th and his appearance at iHeartRadio Music Festival are still on the books.
Chance and his wife Kirsten announced the birth of their daughter Marli on September 7th. The baby’s face wasn’t revealed in the photo, but Mrs. Bennett deserves a round of applause for this amazing onesie.
