Eddie Murphy’s career receipts are known far and wide. The legendary comedian and actor cemented his place in the industry with his legendary stand-ups, and further brought the laughs with classics like Coming To America and The Nutty Professor. Now, we’re learning more about what life is like for Murphy at home.
The Dolemite Is My Name star recently stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote his new projects. While on air, he joked about the split reactions he receives when fans find out he has ten children. “Men kind of look at me like, ‘He’s crazy. How much did that s— cost?’” the Murphy teased. “And women, it’s kind of like, something sexy about it I think. ‘Eddie Murphy must be doing this thing. Eddie Murphy be getting it in.’”
All jokes aside, Murphy said he’s content with having a full house. “I like it, I’m happy with it.”
Murphy’s children range in from ages 1 to 30 years old. His eldest son Eric, 30, is shared with a former girlfriend Paulette McNeely. One year younger is his son, Christian. Murphy has five children with his ex-wife, Nicole Mitchell Murphy: Bella Zahra, 17, Zola Ivy, 19, Shayne Audra, 24, and Bria, 29 and Miles, 26. Murphy also shares a 12-year-old daughter named Angel with former Spice Girls member Melanie Brown. With his current fiancée, Paige Butcher, he shares two children – Izzy Oona, 3 and Max, 1.
In addition to this beautiful blended family, Murphy is also a grandfather! His son Myles recently became a father himself, welcoming a baby girl named Evie this past July.
As far as maintaining a blended family, Murphy previously told Extra TV that everyone gets along swimmingly – including the mothers of his children. “Everybody’s really cool with each other and it’s all love all the way around everybody gets along that’s a good thing.” he said. “It’s a love fest at the house.”
