He’s here, and he’s oh so precious.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star/model Eva Marcille and her husband Michael T. Sterling recently welcomed their son, Maverick Leonard, and the first photo of their baby boy will melt your heart. In the photo, the newborn sleeps peacefully in a knitted onesie. In the caption, Sterling gives the child a cute little nickname inspired by the popular HBO series Game Of Thrones. “Maverick Leonard Sterling. First of his name. The unburped. Breaker of waters,” he writes.
Sterling then breaks down the deeper meaning of his second born’s name. Maverick, he says, means, “an independent-minded person who does not believe they have to just go along with the group or consensus.” The child’s middle name, Leonard, came from Sterling’s grandfather, who “was a good samaritan who never hesitated to lend a hand to those who were often forgotten and left behind.”
In a statement to Us Weekly, Marcille talked about having a smooth delivery, despite baby Maverick showing up earlier than expected. “Just like his name implies, Maverick did things his way. He came a few weeks early,” the 34-year-old told the magazine. “I started getting contractions three days before he decided to actually arrive, so we checked into the hospital just to be prepared. All I ever ask for is a healthy baby and God answered my prayers, so everything went smooth.”
Marcille and Sterling, who tied the knot in a lavish Atlanta wedding back in October 2018, share a total of three children together – Marley Rae, 5, Michael Jr. 1, and baby Maverick. Marley Rae’s biological father is singer Kevin McCall, and Marcille recently spoke about her decision to change her little girl’s last name to Sterling. “Long story short, we all have the name Sterling, and Marley is the only one with her biological father’s name and I saw it necessary and Mike saw it necessary to change her name.”
Marcille recently celebrated baby #3 with a “flower power” themed baby shower attended by her Real Housewives castmates. Marcille and Sterling’s pregnancy journey will be documented when the show returns in November.
