Michelle Williams and pastor Chad Johnson called off their engagement just before the close of 2018, but the former Destiny Child’s member still supports her ex’s divine calling.
In a recent Instagram post, Williams enthusiastically endorsed Johnson’s annual Remix conference, hosting by his church Elevate International. Having attended herself, she promises it will be a life-changing experience. “Listen allllll the way UP!!!,” she writes. “In 2017 I went to Pastor @chadjohnson77and his amazing ministry @elevateintRemixRETREAT for young adults and it was life changing. Wellllllllll this year it’s a conference that is open to EVERYONE of ALL ages in Phoenix, AZ April 4-6. Go to www.remixconf.com to register and for more information.”
“I really believe if you are in a place of being uncertain of who you are or if you’re wondering if there is a purpose for your life….you NEED to get there. If you just wanna be in a great atmosphere and experience an incredible move of God….you better go. Love you guys!”
Of course, the video prompted lots of questions about their relationship and whether or not these two planned on getting back together. Eventually, the avalanche of nosey inquiries lead her to disable the comments altogether, but not before asking her followers to simmer down. “Come on y’all….be nice! I don’t want the message and intention of this post to get lost!! I love y’all so much!! Now don’t be petty….y’all gotta be stronger for me so that when I’m tempted to be petty I can look to you guys for strength! 🤣❤🤣 #ChelleBelleHasSpoken,” the singer replied, according to Atlanta Black Star.
Williams and Johnson got engaged in April 2018 after meeting at his retreat the year prior. The pair gave their fans access to their relationship and pre-wedding journey on their OWN reality show Michelle Loves Chad. The relationship was tested with Williams’ battle with severe depression, which she admits made her feel unworthy of the relationship. For reasons not disclosed, she officially ended the engagement before the show wrapped.
In a conversation with ESSENCE’s Yes, Girl! Podcast, Johnson and Williams discussed their decision to abstain from sex until marriage.
“When we started dating, he said sex is not an option, and it was such a breath of fresh air because it was like, oh, so you’re not one of those men who feel like okay, we have to have sex,” Williams shared. “I don’t have to have sex with you to keep you. You know, and so, that was pressure off of me, like, thank God.”
