Dear Abiola,
I am 29 years and I’ve been a lesbian my whole life. I love, love, love women. But I am now thinking that I want to be in a relationship with a man. Is this possible?
Signed,
Metro-Flexual
My Dearest Metro-Flexual,
You can be in a relationship with whoever floats your boat, gorgeous. However, this is a good time for self-inquiry. Why this new choice, and why now?
Do you suddenly want to be in a relationship with a man, try sex with a man, or both? Are these your own choices or are they coming from the outside? Have you always identified as lesbian and now you’re attracted to men?
Do you want to be in a relationship with a specific man or just experiment with men in general? If you’ve found a man you’re attracted to, go for it! Human sexuality is quite fluid. Perhaps you considered yourself to have been born a lesbian and you were actually born bisexual.
It’s your life and your body, gorgeous. As long as your choices are safe, sane, and consensual, feel free to explore in whatever ways your own personal ethics allow you to do. You may want to check out the book “A Year Straight: Confessions of a Boy-Crazy Lesbian Beauty Queen,” a memoir by Elena Azzoni.
Enjoy! I will hold a vision of you whole, happy, and in juicy, healthy love.
Passionately yours,
Abiola
