Jada Pinkett Smith wants nothing more than for your marriage to be successful.
On Instagram, the actress and 20-year marriage veteran explained how she’s seen relationships dissolve around her over the years and admitted that it breaks her heart each time it happens. Pinkett went on to reveal that despite having witness some marriages fail, she she’s still rooting for any couples out there trying to make it work.
“I’ve been watching a lot marriages dissolve around me. It’s been really painful. Marriages change,” the 46-year-old wrote. “Sometimes they need to be reimagined and transformed. Sometimes they are simply over … but either way, I pray that folks going thru this painful transition find the patience and the love within to not throw the “babies” out with the bath water. #family”
Jada and her husband, actor Will Smith, tied the knot in 1997 and over the years they’ve been very vocal about the hard work it takes to stay together and happily married.
With two children together –Jaden Smith, 20, and Willow Smith, 17–plus Will’s son, Tre, from a previous marriage, they’ve had lots of experience managing marriage and parenthood. They mastered learning to balance marriage and parenthood.
In July, Smith told Tidal’s Rap Radar podcast that he and his wife no longer refer to themselves as “married” but rather they feel their relationship is best described as a life partnership.
“[We] don’t even say we’re married anymore,” he said. “We refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life,” the rapper/actor said. “There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever. Nothing […] would break our relationship. She has my support till death and it feels so good to get to that space.”
