How did you meet your man?
Phillip and I met at a local Atlanta restaurant. We were each there with a separate group of friends celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Was it love at first sight? Did you try not to feel something? Why or why not?
There was an immediate connection when we first met. We ended up talking for hours and exchanged numbers. But after leaving the restaurant, I started doubting my decision to go on a date with a “stranger” and communication eventually died down. When we did finally get around to that first date we picked right back up where we left off and have been inseparable ever since.
Describe your most romantic date ever.
While in Savannah one weekend, Phillip and I walked down to Riverstreet. We walked along the water and watched the sunset while soft jazz music was playing in the background. It was the perfect summer night.
At what moment did you know he was “The One” for you?
Shortly after Phillip and I began dating I invited him to attend my family reunion with me. I have a large family. While most guys would have been intimidated or apprehensive, Phillip was eager to meet my extended family. He fit right in. He even served as the impromptu “DJ” at the picnic. Seeing how well he fit in with my family, and watching him play around with my little cousins showed me he was a family man and definitely “the one” for me!
What do your friends say about him?
They say he’s the perfect match for me. His laid back demeanor compliments my “Type A” personality and calms me. He’s also not afraid to tell me “no” and I like that about him.
Did you have a hunch he was going to propose?
We had gone shopping a few times to look at what style of rings I liked. I knew it was coming, but I thought it would be much later in the year. He definitely caught me by surprise.
How did he pop the question?
Phillip snuck into my apartment one evening and set the stage. When I opened the door I found a path of rose petals and candles lining the foyer and leading to the living room. When I walked in Phillip was down on one knee with a ring in one hand and a dozen roses in the other.
