Where and how did you meet your man?
We actually met through social media in 2008. I had just moved to Louisiana the year before and there were lots of fresh beginnings.
Were you looking for love at the time?
No. I had just ended a bad relationship, and oddly enough, I met Kenric on the same exact site that my ex met his then-girlfriend too.
Describe your most romantic date ever.
Kenric took me to a Chrisette Michelle concert and we were VIPs. We had special seating right at front of the stage and it was a magical night. Believe it or not, it was my very first concert.
Weirdest date you’ve ever been on?
When we first met, Kenric had just started driving tanker trailers. We actually had a date in the truck because he could not leave it because it was carrying hazardous materials.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened on a date?
On our first date, Kenric left his wallet at the restaurant and remembered right before we were on our way to the movies.
What’s one of the sweetest things he has ever done for you?
I was living in a condo on the sixth floor. Grocery shopping was a hassle because it was a lot of up and down in the elevator. Kenric surprised me with a grocery utility cart after hearing me complain about the several trips I was making each time.
Did you have a hunch he was going to propose?
Yes, we started talking about it, and I knew something was up when Kenric mentioned stopping to see my parents while we were on a trip.
How did he pop the question?
It happened when I least expected it. Kenric popped the question while we were at his house and it was just the two of us. Everything about that moment embodied what our life together would be like. It was intimate and it involved the most important people, he and I.
What was really going through your mind as he proposed?
I have waited for this moment and yet he still surprised me by picking a time that I would least expect. I knew he was in the moment.
Did you know she was ‘The One’ right away?
No, since neither one of us was looking to jump into a relationship, we got to know each other beyond surface façade.
What’s your favorite thing to do with your bride-to-be?
I like lounging on the couch, flipping channels and waiting on her to take over the remote. (Laughs!)
Were you nervous about proposing?
No, because I had already imagined growing old with her.
Who would you cast to play your future hubby in a movie?
Don Cheadle! He is always cool, calm and collected, just like my Kenric.
