Crystal and Winston first fell for each other as children in church. After years of friendship, the two naturally fell in love. Next summer, the couple will marry in a beautiful ceremony in New York. “Winston is a great leader and he’ll do a great job leading his family, loving his wife and raising his children,” she shares.
“I am most looking forward to the notion of coming home to my wife,” says Winston. “It’s profoundly simple.”
“Her character challenges me to be a better person,” says Winston of his soon to be wife. “I am definitely a better person as a result of being with her.”
“I think he chose to marry me because we have similar moral values. We’re genuinely great friends. We love each other and we make each other better people,” says the blushing bride-to-be.
“I would thank her parents for being the best models of love and supporting her ambitions,” says Winston. “I would thank them for instilling in her a passion for Christ and reverence for God. AND she’s Jamaican, so I would thank them for good genes and heritage.”
“I remember the moment that Winston officially became my crush,” remembers Crystal. “We were very young, when he sat next to me in church and made me the cutest picture with my name in bubbled letters. I told him how beautiful it was, and he told me that it didn’t compare to my beauty. That was all my little pre-teen heart needed to fall in love.”
“My friends love Winston and think that he’s hilarious. They often tell me that he’s just right for me, because he keeps me calm and level-headed,” says Crystal about her man. “My parents have also known him for years and have watched him grow and mature into the man that he is today.”
“Winston is literally the ‘ying’ to my ‘yang.’ It’s amazing that we’re so similar and yet so different,” says Crystal. “At our core, we are similar morally and culturally. But in personalities we’re total opposites. We definitely push each other to try things that we never thought possible.”
“Winston and I have known each other for most of our lives,” Crystal tells us. “I know that he’s always thought that I was talented and beautiful. He’d always say, “You’re so beautiful and talented; you can have anyone that you want…” Not so secretly, I always wanted him.”
Crystal recounts the moment the love of her life proposed. “I literally freaked out and cried for a while,” she says. “I later asked him to do it again so I could be in the moment. I thought, “Wow, he really just proposed to me. I have to tell my mom ASAP!”
“We’re getting married on July 26, 2015— both of our parents’ 35th wedding anniversaries,” Crystal says. “It’s always been crazy to us that his parents and my parents were married on the same exact day and year.”
When asked what he loves most of about his bride-to-be, Winston says, “I love when she pulls her hair back into a ponytail the most. She is so gorgeous and I love seeing all of her face.”
“Winston is the only person in the world who has seen me at my best and my absolute worst,” says the bride-to-be. “Looking back at both points in my life, his love never changed. There was a point where I was literally sad and frustrated with just about everything. But he prayed me through the challenges and loved me unwaveringly. I said to myself if I can have this kind of love for a lifetime, then I’ll be the richest woman alive.”
