“We had been running errands on a Saturday,” says Kela of the day Daryl proposed. “One stop involved going by my dad’s house. Once there, while I stood up I saw a huge grin on my dad’s face. Then I noticed Daryl down on his knee. I turned around and he asked me to marry him. It was a simple and perfect moment with my dad and my future husband.”
“Our dates are simple and easy and that is enough for me,” says Kela.
“Our weekends are typically filled with athletic activities for my son,” says the bride-to-be. “Some weekends we have events social events to attend and as of December 2014, our Sundays involve spending time with Aubrey Désirée, Daryl’s granddaughter.”
“We are having an outdoor, sunset ceremony,” says Kela. “The style will be modern and chic. The colors are indigo blue and yellow.”
“If you’re spying on us on a Friday night, you’ll probably catch us having dinner at a Mexican restaurant,” says Kela. Could the be more adorable?
“I love that my future husband is extremely attentive and goes above and beyond for our family,” says Kela.
“Unfortunately, Daryl’s parents are no longer with us, so I did not get the honor of getting to know them,” says Kela. “From what he tells me, our fathers are pretty similar. I have enjoyed hearing stories about them and have honored them in my own special way. Last year on the one-year anniversary of his father’s passing, I made a donation in his memory.”
“We did pick the engagement ring together,” Kela shares. “The ring features four invisible set princess cut diamonds with round brilliant diamonds underneath and on the sides. It is 14K white gold.”
“What I love most about Kela is that she is a go-getter,” says Daryl. “She is determined, organized and detailed.”
These stunning portraits of the newlyweds to be have expertly captured the passion of their love. Kudos to photographer Ross Oscar Knight.
My favorite thing to do with Kela is Travel. Memphis is our home, but we are adventurers.
“I fell in love with Kela because she was open, direct, and upfront about who she was and what she wanted,” says Daryl.
“With so much pain in the world from broken relationships and marriages, I am looking forward to our marriage (DKMerger) to be fun and lasting,” says Daryl. “I want our marriage to be something that will tell people that it is possible in this day and time to make it in a marriage when society makes it more convenient to do the opposite.”
