How did you meet your man?
Covelle and I met while our sons were playing on the same little league baseball team. Of course, over time you begin to form bonds with the parents of other players because you spend so much time together traveling to various games and events. When I first met Covelle, I thought he was very funny and sweet. We both have the same sense of humor. As we talked and joked occasionally during the baseball season, a really great friendship was born.
Were you looking for love at the time?
I wasn’t on the hunt for love at the time. I had just finished grad school and was very into my son and his academics and afterschool activities.
What was your first impression of him?
I thought Covelle was loud, but funny.
Was it love at first sight?
No, it was a beautiful friendship. I can admit I often wondered how it would be if he was my man. I wanted there to be more between us, but only when it was right.
Who said “I love you” first?
Covelle told me first.
Sweetest thing he’s ever done for you?
He has done so many sweet things for me that I cannot choose just one thing.
Did you have a hunch he was going to propose?
I knew that one day we would get married, but I did not know when.
How did he pop the question?
We were getting ready to go on a weeklong family vacation. I was double-checking the house as always, to ensure that we had everything we needed and that everything was secure before our trip. As I was standing in the kitchen, Covelle informed me that he got me an anniversary card for our third anniversary. I stopped to read it and cracked jokes at some of the things he wrote. As I opened up the card to continue to read, I notice a blue strip of paper that read “Flip Me Up.” I stopped reading the card and flipped up the paper and it read, “Will You Marry Me?” I turned around (totally surprised) and Covelle was down on one knee with the ring in hand. Of course, I said yes! We left for our trip as fiancés on cloud nine.
