Where and how did you meet your man?
I met my husband-to-be in Atlanta, Georgia over the Thanksgiving holiday. We were both in town visiting our respective families for the holiday. After Thanksgiving dinner, my cousins dragged me out to the club to dance off our turkey. Zach and I met on the middle of the dance floor. Our connection was instant. While our family and friends partied the night away, we headed to a quiet corner in the room and talked for hours. We exchanged numbers at the end of the night. Never did I imagine that three years later we’d be headed down the aisle. I still chuckle when I remember I didn’t want to go out that night.
At what moment did you know he was “The One” for you?
I knew Zach was the one for me the first time I was really in crisis. He stepped up to the plate to be there. About a year into dating, I got a new job in New York. When I arrived with all my things in town, I found out that my apartment fell through. Zach moved mountains to make sure that I had whatever I needed until I found a new place to stay. It was at that moment that I knew I had a man in my life who would put my needs first and catch me whenever I fell short.
What made you fall in love with her?I knew she was the one very quickly. I had never felt for anyone what I felt so genuinely for her. Other girls in my past put up with my foolishness, but not her. She had standards and expected the very best of me. It’s a good thing to have someone to keep you honest. I wouldn’t be half the man I am today if it weren’t for her coming into my life. How long did you date before you got engaged?
We dated for two years before we started looking for engagement rings.
How did he pop the question? (Be concise!)
One night we had dinner at a quiet restaurant along the Hudson River. When dinner was over, Zach asked me to step outside because he wanted to show me how beautiful the view of the city was. When we got outside there was a stone fireplace blazing and I dropped my purse. I thought Zach went down to pick it up but instead he got down on one knee. I couldn’t believe he was popping the question.
What was really going through your mind as he proposed?
I felt fear, joy, and excitement all at the same time.
What are you most looking forward to about marriage?
There aren’t enough words to express how much my future wife means to me. I’m excited about all the firsts including our first home together, our first child and our first year of marriage. It’s exciting to think that we’re really about to embark on this journey together. I feel so free in my love with her.
