How did you meet your man?
I’ll never forget the day I met him. We met in Washington, D.C. when we were celebrating our friend’s birthday. There was just something about him that intrigued me. So much so that after meeting him that day, I “found” his Twitter… Okay maybe I socially stalked him, but either way, I found it. One day he tweeted something and I casually responded to him, then he tweeted back. Over the next couple of months we became friends. We casually talked every single day over different time zones and in different states. I always played it cool with Marion, but I knew from the day I met him, I would marry him. Ask anybody.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened on a date?
When we first started dating, there was one night Marion was going to come over and watch movies, so I decided to go to a local burger spot and grab food to eat right after work, while I waited for his plane to land. Well, the burger gave me food poisoning. So by the time Marion got to my house I was deathly sick. It was SO embarrassing, because we were still in that early “I always look cute” stage and here I was hugging the toilet all night. Terrible.
When did you know he was “The One?”
I knew Marion was the one from the moment I met him. It was something about him. He was a real man, I never experienced that before. I have a beautiful daughter from a previous relationship and when that relationship ended, I never thought I would date again. Then I met Marion and became so clear that he was the one I meant to be with. He treats our daughter as his own. He is there for every recital, bake sale, and imaginary fashion show. The stars aligned perfectly the day we met, I see so much of God’s love in his.
How did he pop the question?
It was my birthday weekend and Marion was adamant about having my friends fly to LA to celebrate. We just moved here, so I just wasn’t expecting a big to-do. Marion planned a day of wine tasting in Malibu for everyone to go to. By the time we got to the 2nd tasting room, I already had a nice little buzz going and Marion asked if I wanted to go look at grapes, pointing off to the distance. I was so confused, that I just walked up the path with him and boom. He got on one knee (in white jeans, might I add). I was so surprised, everything I had been obsessed over for years was finally happening.
Why is he the best man for you?
Marion and I balance one another in the perfect way. Marion is a natural problem solver and treats everything like a math equation. I, on the other hand, am more whimsical. He pushes me to think in different ways, to use my natural talents and to be an overall better version of myself. And I soften his edges a bit. A lot of people don’t know I’m extremely goofy and weird. I can let my hair down with him and count on him to play along.
