The Lucky Lady: Ronica Reid, 31, Speech Language Pathologist
Her Leading Man: Christopher Leftwich, 29, Non-Profit Co-Founder
The Big Day: March 30, 2013
Wedding Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Where and how did you meet your man?
I met Christopher in November 2009. We were both at our ministers’ wedding at our church. (Their ministers married each other.) I served as the hostess, and Christopher was as an usher. My minister told me a while back that she had a handsome young man in mind for me to meet. That guy was Christopher, the same man who approached me speaking in sign language after the ceremony. At the end of the night, he asked me for my phone number, and the rest is history.
Were you looking for love, Ronica?
No, not exactly. I was open to meeting new friends, and eventually opening my heart to “The One,” but at that time I was heavily focused on leaving my hometown, Charlotte, North Carolina soon to go to graduate school in Cullowhee, North Carolina. I was trying to avoid any distractions, but God revealed to me that He’d placed Christopher in my life and in my heart for a reason. He was the best distraction I could have ever asked for.
Christopher, what made you fall in love with Ronica?
We share a connection that I feel like only God could have created. She brings out the best (and silliest) of me and can make some great mac and cheese!
Did you know she was “The One” right away?
Yes. When I first met her. It was like an angel whispered in my ear saying, “This is your wife,” and my heart instantly agreed.
How did he pop the question? (Be concise!)
He popped the question through a scavenger hunt, which began at his home. He had numerous pictures of us that spanned the course of our relationship. At the back of the stack of pictures was a photo of Christopher signing the word “WILL”. The first clue was attached, and it lead to the restaurant where we had our first date. The second clue was attached to a picture of him signing “YOU”. This led us to one of our favorite spots: Krispy Kreme! Clue 3 was a photo of Christopher signing “MARRY” and this led us to our church. Once there, Christopher gave me the final picture of him signing “ME” and he told me that he loved me as Christ loves the church (Eph. 5:25), and he asked me to be his wife.
