R&B singer Maxwell is showing up and showing out, as he should.
On October 23, a video of the singer began making rounds on social media. It shows him getting low and having a good time to his 2009 song “Bad Habits.” He is currently traveling the country in support of his “The Night Tour.” He also wrapped a sold-out tour with Anthony Hamilton and Joe earlier this year.
Maxwell has been an active force in entertainment for over 25 years, with his debut album Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite having been released in 1996. Some of his best known songs include “Sumthin’ Sumthin’,” a cover of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work,” and “Pretty Wings.”

On October 25, Maxwell took to Twitter to respond to the video, writing, “Y’all wanna laugh but your knees ain’t built like that. This the Maxwell Challenge.”
This isn’t the first time Maxwell has gone viral. Earlier this fall, he (indirectly) prompted another social media task: singing the opening run from his 1999 song “Fortunate.” Omarion, Avery Wilson, and Mario were among the celebrities who recreated the iconic song intro.

Another video of Maxwell is circulating, too. It features him flexing his dance skills in a shimmering suit.
It’s officially #MaxwellSZN.
In 2018, he spoke with Okayplayer on the impact of social media, saying, “It’s a necessary evil. It’s another progression in the way of the world. You can’t stop progress. We were riding on horses, then we got cars. We used to go to plays, then we got black and white movies Now we have smart TVs. Pigeons used to have the fly out and give a message, now we have cell phones. It’s not about the technology; it’s about the user.”
Can’t get enough Maxwell? You’re in luck. He’s set to perform in Rihanna’s fourth annual Savage x Fenty show. It’ll be available for viewing on Amazon Prime, beginning on November 9. In the meantime, keep scrolling for a few times Maxwell made us swoon.
