Prince Harry and Meghan Markle weren’t able to make the nearly four-hour trip to Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre’s three-day wedding in Morocco, given the Dutchess is very close to giving birth. However, they certainly weren’t lacking in the gift-giving department.
According to The Daily Mail, the royal couple gifted the newlyweds with a unique painting by The Connor Brothers worth an estimated $9,000. The artworks portrays a woman on the cover of a 1950s style romance novel, with the quote, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
Elba and Dhowre famously attended the Royal Wedding in May 2018. Elba not only attended looking sharp as ever but also DJed at the reception. The actor spoke of how this came to be on The Ellen Show. “Harry and I, we’ve hung out a couple of times through his dad—his dad’s charity the Prince’s Trust helped me out as a young actor. So I do a lot of work with them, Harry and Prince William, a few times,” the actor explained to Ellen Degeneres. “And Harry came to a couple of parties that I DJ’d, and he was like, ‘Hey man, what are you doing on the date?’ And I was like, ‘Nothing.’ He goes, ‘Hmm, would you DJ at my wedding?’ I was like, ‘Is this a joke? Are you joking?’ And he’s like, serious.”
This might just be one of our new favorite celebrity couple BFFs!
