Nicki Minaj is very much in love with her boyfriend Kenneth Petty, and the couple will soon make it official by getting married.
During yesterday’s episode of her Beats 1 show Queen Radio, Minaj revealed that she and Petty will likely be married by the end of the year. “We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” Nicki explained of their process. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”
The “Megatron” rapper said their plan is to have a small, intimate ceremony with close family and friends for now. However, a big wedding will happen once her schedule opens up a bit. “I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later,” she confirms. “I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out. Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married.”
Minaj and Petty have known each other since they were teenagers and went public with their relationship in December 2018. In a previous episode of Queen Radio, Minaj spoke about finding the one. “I think I have what I was striving for…just happiness. It was hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m here I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
In a January 2019 tweet, Minaj spoke of their pre-fame relationship history, saying “we were like this about each other since we were very young kids in the hood. He was on my body b4 the big ol’ ghetto booty.”
