Marsha Ambrosius Gives Us ‘Butterflies’ With Her Adorable Family Photo

Singer–songwriter Marsha Ambrosius is one of the most hardworking women in show business. But lately, her music is becoming beautifully intertwined with her new identity as a wife and mom. Over the weekend, the singer shared a gorgeous family photo with her husband, Dez Billups, and daughter, Nyla, simply captioned, “The Billups.” https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu1_dsZlYSr/ Until recently, the former Floetry member was notoriously private about her personal life (and who could blame her?). That all changed when she met her future hubby while he was employed as a roadie on the Cleveland leg of the Floetry reunion tour. In an exclusive interview with ESSENCE, Ambrosius says she had no qualms about making the first move: “I was just going to be as forthcoming as I’ve always been and decided to ask him out on a date. Well, not a date. Just to go get something to eat and he obliged and we’ve haven’t been apart since.” The couple welcomed their daughter, Nyla, in 2016 and wed the following year. Ambrosius is currently on tour promoting her latest solo album, which was released in September 2018 and named for her child. “[The album reflects] the love for my daughter and the absolute lust it took to create the initial conversation with the man who is now my husband,” she tells ESSENCE.
