Rihanna has been busy at work promoting her new Fenty clothing line and gearing up to release her first studio album in three years. Despite being extremely booked and busy, the entertainer makes it a point to block off her calendar to spend quality time with her boyfriend, Hassan Jameel.
In a sit down with American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson for Interview magazine, Rihanna gave some sparse details about her relationship with the Saudi businessman, which she’s kept extremely private since news of them dating became public in 2017. Rih says as she’s matured, she’s also realized how important it is for her to take breaks from work to spend time with the ones she loves, including her man. “I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me,” she tells Paulson. “It was like, ‘I need to make time for this.’ Just like I nurture my businesses, I need to nurture this as well. I’ll shut things down for two days, three days at a time. On my calendar, we now have the infamous “P,” which means personal days. This is a new thing.”
When asked if she’s in love, Rihanna responded, “Of course I am.” The question of marriage, however, caused her to pause a little before responding, “Only god knows that, girl. We plan and god laughs, right?”
Sighting of Rihanna and Jameel kissing in a pool in Spain were first leaked in June 2017. The singer, until now, has remained mostly tight-lipped about the relationship and has refrained from appearing on red carpets or at public events with him. The couple recently vacationed together in Italy with his family.
Of course, Rihanna was also asked about the timing of her album, which fans have been relentlessly begging for. “It really does suck that it can’t just come out, because I’m working on a really fun one right now,” she says. “I’m really happy with a lot of the material we have so far, but I am not going to put it out until it’s complete. It makes no sense to rush it, but I want it out. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m like, ‘Even if I don’t have the time to shoot videos, I’m going to put an album out.’”
