The news originally came via Zinzi’s hairstylist, Alexander Armand, who posted a photo of the dapper looking couple prior to them heading out for the WGA Awards, and tonight the couple (and their bump) walked the red carpet at the 91st Academy Awards show, absolutely glowing.
Coogler says he and Evans began dating in college and that she has supported his Hollywood dreams from the very start. “My wife, she was my girl at the time, [and] they had a software where you could write screenplays,” he said in an interview with Hot97. “I was trying to write in Microsoft Word. It’s impossible because your format gotta be right. I was broke, playing football on the little scholarship money. And my wife scrapped together some cheese and bought me Final Draft, which is the software that you write your movies on.”While the couple hasn’t revealed the sex of the child yet, Coogler hasn’t made it a secret that he’s gunning for a little girl….well, multiple girls, actually. “I found I want daughters real, real bad,” he told The YBF exclusively. “Like plural. I thought, making Fruitvale Station, I want kids. But like, on this one, I have to have some daughters.”While preparing to embark on fatherhood, Coogler is gearing up to produce a film about the life and times of the late Black Panther party leader Fred Hampton. The film, titled Jesus Was My Homeboy, will reportedly star Daniel Kaluuya as Hampton and Lakeith Stanfield as William O’Neal, the man who betrayed him.
Congratulations to the Coogler’s on their upcoming addition.
