The Dream and his wife Lalonne Martinez are staying strong after revealing their fourth child, a baby girl named Elysees, was born eight weeks premature.
Martinez took to Instagram to thank her friends, family and followers for their prayers and support while also letting the rest of the world in on the news. “This birth was by far the hardest,” Martinez reveals. “May 6th, eight weeks before our scheduled delivery. I had a placental abruption and underwent an emergency c-section. (Not my first, I knew this time was critical. My husband wasn’t able to come in, I was put to sleep and my sports bra and jewelry was on). This was life or death for Élysées and I.”
The couple posted photos of their baby girl resting in the incubator, cradling her small feet. Martinez reveals that she received five blood transfusions and dealt with a host of health issues like high blood pressure, pain and fever following their daughter’s birth. Still, her only concern is the well-being of their newborn.
She continues, “Seeing the divine circumstances, that lined up and brought us to the hospital…it was apparent our baby girl was ready & supposed to make her grand entrance on this day & that she did!”
“Happy Birthday Élysées! She is a fighter and she is thriving. Born MAY 6th … 3 lbs. Baby girl you are STRONG, you are FIERCE, and you are so LOVED.”
The Dream and Martinez wed in 2014 at San Francisco City Hall. Together they share three other children – two sons, Heir and Lord, and a daughter named Maverick. Dream also has five children from previous relationships.
We’re wishing mommy and baby a speedy recovery!
