In the spirit of fashion week, model Andre Brown and model agent Latoya Scott share their love story. They tied the knot in New York City over Memorial Day weekend.

Andre is a natural in front of the camera, and is extra clean on his wedding day. He first spotted Latoya outside of the modeling agency he’s signed with and she works for.
“l was inspired to say something to understand why I felt such a strong pull to her,” he says. “It’s totally out of my character to approach strange women. I’m glad I rolled with it.”

Although Latoya only works with female models, it was still taboo for a model and an agent to date. The two kept their relationship private and some of Latoya’s coworkers didn’t realize until the wedding she was marrying a model, she shares with a laugh.

Latoya cut the cost of a limo by walking to her wedding from her hotel in midtown New York City. The journey also made for a great photo shoot with her bridesmaids.

Latoya’s bridesmaids make sure everything is perfect. She let them pick from a variety of short black dresses to wear on her special day and also style their hair as they wanted. She tied the look together with pearls, that also served as her gift to them.
“I told them, ‘I want you to look your absolute best, however that is,’” she says. “I picked the pearls and had the necklaces made, which also allowed guests to know who was a bridesmaid.”

“I wanted this to be unconventional and we had a blast,” the bride says.

Latoya learned from her first wedding which had tons of cake left, and opted for cupcakes. Her West Indian parents also gave traditional black cake. She also saved money on invitations by making them on her own.
“They were gorgeous,” she says. “I spent $4,500 on my first invites and $300 this time.”

Andre wasn’t a fan of a big wedding, and the two compromised on a budget of $20,000, which included the 12-day honeymoon in Thailand they left for the next day. Being creative throughout the process helped Latoya pull it off.
“I knew she had the ability to either negotiate the right price or just make it herself. She’s a BAD woman!” Andre says.
