“Even though we were long distance (he lived in San Antonio, TX and I lived in Miami, FL) he always made me feel secure and loved,” shares lovely bride Angel. “He made me feel like there wasn’t any distance in between us at all.”
On her big day, Angel’s bridal glow was infectious. “I knew it was going to be a long day, so I wanted my hair pulled back away from my face and hanging down my back,” she tells us.
Angel found this lovely dress in the Maggie Sottero collection.
“Our then 4-month-old daughter walked (was held) out right before I did,” says Angel. “She had on a white dress just like me!”
“When he wants something, he pursues it until victory is had,” Angel says of her new husband, Nate.
“We planned the wedding together,” says Angel. “It was such a relief that he was willing to help because I couldn’t do it alone. He was very much involved in a lot of things and I appreciate him for that.”
“I wore a medium length veil, pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet,” Angel explains. “And, ivory colored Vince Camuto open toed heels.”
“I wanted the dresses to complement my bridesmaids,” says Angel. “They all have great bodies so it was easy!” We love how the lavender brings out their beauty.
These lovely ladies sure know their poses. We see those shoes!
Angel’s girls helped her slip right into her custom dress.
“It felt great to be a bride,” Angel says. “Like it was all about me and my happiness that day.”
Sweet ladies in sweet gowns. The pictures really captured their essence. (Pun intended!)
Angel sneaks up on her groom just in time for their “first look.”
“His moral compass is crazy steady and can withstand any storm or temptation that may cross his path,” says Angel.
The groom planned and picked out the groomsmen’s day-of looks.
“The two maids of honors are my two older sisters, my three bridesmaids are my best friends from my hometown and the remaining one is the groom’s sister.,” Angels says.
“Nate is passionate and driven,” says Angel. “He’s on career number three while most men his age are still trying to get their lives together.”
“His loyalty is like nothing I’ve ever had before with a man,” says the beaming bride.
“I’ve never dated a man that made my heart feel so safe and secure,” says Angel, who found it easy to choose a man like Nate to spend the rest of her life with.
Angel made her way down the aisle while Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon In The Sky” played. “My father walked me down the aisle because that’s how the tradition goes.”
The bride’s uncle officiated their wedding ceremony. “I chose him because we’re family and I love him,” she tells us.
“I got teary eyed, but a full-blown tear never escaped,” she adds.
“At the altar, I felt like this was it,” Angel tells us. “This is what forever looks like. I felt reassured and confident that I was the luckiest girl in the world.”
Nate couldn’t wait to make it official at the altar, which is also known as “movie kiss the bride.”
“I was excited and nervous when he proposed,” Angel admits. “At this point in our relationship, we were living together, in-sync, and openly discussed the idea of marriage. When he proposed, I was just in shock. Almost like an out-of-body experience.”
Mr. and Mrs. Hughes paved a lovely road to happily ever after.
“I honestly didn’t think I’d find true love until after I got out of the military and was able to ‘settle’ in one place and not be forced to relocate every few years,” says Angel. “As a military pilot, I’m always on the go. I knew it would take a special kind of man who was willing and secure enough to pack up and move around the country with a woman. Not to mention, he would also have to cope with deployments and 24hr duty shifts.” Well, it looks like Angel found her guy.
“Nate is so committed to me and my well-being,” Angel shares. “He’s not influenced or affected by outside distractors that cripple most men that have lived similar lifestyles.”
“The two best men were the groom’s best friends from his hometown,” Angel tells us. “One is a frat brother, one a college roommate, plus his brother and two cousins.”
“We had two maids of honor and two best men followed by seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen,” Angel explains.
“I hired a wedding planner after I secured the venue and the DJ,” Angel tells us. “I just wanted someone to coordinate the events of the day so I won’t have to do it. Our planner, Vanessa Oppo of Karma Goddess Event Planning and Design was also a florist, so it was a convenient one-stop shop on the decorating end. I can’t imagine how my wedding would’ve turned out without her.”
Here’s a beautiful, yet unexpected, pick. The couple chose “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran for their romantic first dance song.
You know the DJ is doing their thing when the kids are having the time of their life too.
“Our cake was a five-tiered vanilla rum specialty baked by Ana Paz Cakes in Miami,” says the bride. “It was traditional in style and decorated with fresh lavender rose petals.”
“Our overall theme was modern and chic,” says the bride. “Our colors were cream and lavender. I wanted the wedding to be simple, classy and fun!”
Both Omegas and Deltas were in the house to celebrate the couple’s big day.
A moment no bride (or her single guests) can resist. Classic!
