Brittany and RJ’s love affair began on a popular dating website and took them all the way to the altar. (Although he proposed during the finale of Scandal, so she almost missed it!) See their gorgeous outdoor “I dos.”
The bride’s custom designed dress was “simple and flowy with beautiful details.”
“I was devastated when my grandmother passed away,” says Brittany. “My mother and Aunt, her two daughters, who were such a big part of all of my bridal activities were as well. I felt her spirit with me throughout the day. She would have been so proud to attend her first grandbaby’s wedding.”

“It was such a joy to be a bride,” says Brittany. “From the moment I was engaged I felt an overwhelming amount of love and support from our friends and family which made the day and the experience of planning all the more special.”
The bride wore a custom-designed headpiece from a friend. We love that her earrings match almost perfectly.

Brittany’s grandmother passed away just one month to the date of their wedding. She wore one of her rings aroung her neck to honor her.
Another favorite memory the bride has is spending the day with some of the best girls in her world, her lovely bridesmaids. We love friend moments like these.
Brittany is the first to admit that she knows nothing about flowers, but she chose a beautiful bouquet with a bright and bohemian vibe.
Brittany enlisted the help of a friend to design her beautiful dress!
The bride calls her groom her best friend. “I used to hate when people would say this because I thought it was cheesy, but I know now that I just didn’t understand because I had never experienced being in a relationship with someone who I also felt was my best friend,” she says. “As I told him in front of our family and friends last July, he supports me and encourages me and accepts me exactly as I am.”
Brittany said her groom is “handsome, funny, passionate, extremely intelligent and really good at cooking breakfast!”
The adorable ring bearer and flower girl stole the show as the cutest and only children to attend the couple’s wedding!
The groom said of the things he loves most about his bride is her sense of humor. He also loves hearing her laugh.
Brittany said she loves RJ for his willingness to give.
“His line of work is very challenging, working with kids who in some cases are going through things that would be difficult for most adults to handle. I remain impressed with his dedication and genuine love for counseling and helping people.”
The couple gave their guest cute fans as programs on their big day.
The bride’s fahter, brothers, uncles and cousins built the arbor she and RJ were married under. What a great personal touch.
Brittany chose a purple color for her bridesmaids dresses as she thought it would be a nice compliment to the other colors featured in the wedding. Good Choice!
How adorable is RJ and Brittany’s niece how served as the flower girl during their reception!
“My father walked me down the aisle. I am extremely close with my dad and it was such a blessing to have him escort me down the aisle,” Brittany said.
A close friend of the couple officiated their big day because they wanted someone they both knew and loved to help cement their beautiful and personal ceremony.
The couple wed in an outdoor ceremony in front of 165 guests.
Brittany admitted RJ started to cry two words into his wedding vows! Awww!
“It’s really hard to explain how it feels at the altar,” says RJ. “In a few seconds something you’ve been thinking about and planning for is right there and it is pretty surreal. I saw how beautiful and happy Brittany looked and that really helped me calm down. I was feeling excited, relieved, happy and mostly trying to (and failing) not cry.”
“It was surreal looking into his eyes at the altar. It felt like a dream,” the bride said.
RJ says, “Brittany challenges me to be a better man. She is able to be my cheerleader when I need one, but she also lets me know when I mess up and forces me to grow as a man. She is the one person that I want do do things with, be it watch a tv show or go on a trip, I know it’ll be better with her at my side.”
The couple and their guests dined and danced under a tent along the beach! Brittant said the theme was create a “simple, colorful and chic space for everyone to enjoy.
RJ had the task of picking the wedding cuisine and opted for a soul food buffet.

The couple had a colorful cake comprised of three delicious flavors–chocolate, blondie and chocolate chip cookie. Yummy!

RJ said he loves that Brittany, “always has [his] back [because] she makes [him] feel stronger and happier than [he] ever thought possible.”
One of Brittany’s favorite wedding memories was the way the tent looked once it was all lit up!
The party got started when everyone gathered around the couple as they danced in the middle of the dance floor to “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G. and rapped every word!
The couple and their guests were on the dance floor until midnight! Brittany said everyone would have stayed on the beach all night if it were permitted!
